Stranger Folkes is a growing archive of folklore-inspired curiosities, carefully gathered for those who enjoy the unusual. Within these shelves you'll discover handmade creations, thoughtfully upcycled pieces and carefully chosen finds, each selected for its character, craftsmanship or the story it inspires.

What is a Specimen Number?

Every curiosity is carefully catalogued before taking its place within the Archive.

Its unique specimen number records its place within the collection and helps preserve its story, even after it has found a new keeper.

Are all of your curiosities one of a kind?

No. Stranger Folkes offers a mixture of handmade creations, upcycled pieces and carefully selected discoveries.

Some curiosities are truly one of a kind, while others may become available again in the future or may also be found elsewhere. Every piece is chosen because it belongs within the world of Stranger Folkes and has earned its place within the Archive.

Will sold items return?

It depends on the curiosity.

Some handmade or one-of-a-kind pieces may never return once they have found a new keeper, while others may occasionally find their way back onto the Archive shelves.

Even when a curiosity is no longer available, its story remains preserved within The Archive.

How long will my order take?

Dispatch times vary depending on the curiosity you've chosen.

Do you ship outside the United Kingdom?

At present, Stranger Folkes dispatches within the United Kingdom only.

Should this change in the future, the Archive doors will happily open a little wider.

What if my curiosity arrives damaged?

If your curiosity arrives damaged or develops a fault, please write to the Archivist as soon as possible, including photographs where possible.

We will always do everything we can to help put things right.

Why do you use folklore throughout the website?

Stranger Folkes is inspired by Britain's rich folklore, old stories and forgotten places.

While the tales woven throughout the Archive are part of its atmosphere, product descriptions always aim to clearly describe the item you're purchasing so you know exactly what to expect.
