The Ghostlings’ Cottage Wall Art
Curator’s Note
Every piece in the Stranger Folkes Archive is chosen for a reason. Some are curious, some unsettling, and others simply seem to belong somewhere beyond the ordinary.
Specimen No. A-0778 was the sort of picture Emma could not walk past.
She found it showing two little ghostly figures standing quietly outside an old, weathered cottage. The path leading to the door looked almost forgotten, with wild flowers growing along the edges and the dark trees watching from behind.
Emma wondered whether the two little ghosts lived there — and whether they were waiting for someone to come home.
Naturally, she brought them back.
With its warm sepia tones, atmospheric cottage scene and two wonderfully simple ghostly figures, The Ghostlings’ Cottage has the feeling of an old illustration rescued from a forgotten folklore book.
The richly detailed cottage, winding path and surrounding woodland give the artwork a wonderfully nostalgic and slightly eerie character, while the two little ghostlings add a touch of quiet charm rather than anything too frightening.
Set within an ornate antique-gold effect frame, it would make a beautiful addition to a gothic bedroom, hallway, reading nook, study or anywhere that could use a little folklore and mystery.
