Curator's Note

Every piece in the Stranger Folkes Archive is chosen for a reason. Some are curious, some unsettling, and others are simply too strange to leave behind.

Specimen No. A-0769 was one of those pieces.

Emma found it where she least expected — a gilded frame, a distressed hand and a bright red balloon announcing “FREAK SHOW.”

She wasn't entirely sure what disturbed her more.

The hand...

Or the feeling that it was still holding on.

Naturally, Emma decided it belonged in the Archive.

With its elaborate gold-effect frame, sculpted hand, coiling serpent and wonderfully strange carnival-inspired balloon, this is certainly not ordinary wall décor. The combination of ornate baroque detailing and macabre imagery gives it the unmistakable feel of something that might have once belonged inside a forgotten travelling curiosity show.

The rustic, aged finish adds even more character, with visible cracks, distressed detailing and imperfections giving the piece an intentionally weathered, gothic appearance.

A wonderfully unusual statement piece for  alternative, eclectic or curiosity-inspired interiors — perfect for anyone who likes their décor a little darker, stranger and guaranteed to start a conversation.
